A FRAME ( STILL PHOTO ) FROM ABBAS KIAROSTAMI FILM AND POETRY OF KASHMIRI POET GHULAM AHMED MEHJOOR

A STILL PHOTO FROM ABBAS KIAROSTAMI FILM .

Abbas kiarostami ( 1940-2016) was a reputed International Film Maker . A poet , Photographer and an independent thinker    . In films,  one can call him  a Satyajit Ray of Iran. Abbas had great capabilities behind the camera especially in capturing Human Pain , suffering and separation.

I would like to add some lines from a poem of kashmiri poet Ghulam Ahmed Mehjoor to this Abbas frame.

Ma'laala Traavith Tche sa'laa yikh na
Ba ma'la Poshan karaai ha laalo.....
Tche Tchhaaye roodukh ba zaaya karthus
Rotuth malaalai vonuyi tche kaem kyaa
Ba ner’a tche pa’th karaan Gadaai
Ba no juddaai zaraai ha laalo
( Gh Ahmed Mehjoor )

My simple English rendering would be ..

" Forgetting grievances,
Could you come this way for the feast ?
I shall adorn you with flower Garlands Love!
Away went you from my Eyes ,
And a waste I remain now .
Who spoke what to you Love ?
A grievance you nurse now ;
But I shall roam like a beggar and look for you ,
For I can’t withstand this separation anymore .. …”
