A SHIKARA , DAL LAKE AND MEHJOOR'S POETRY

IN WAIT , I REMAIN.....

I am adding lines from a poem of well known kashmiri poet Ghulam Ahmed Mehjoor...

" Ma'laala Traavith Tche sa'laa yikh na
Ba ma'la Poshan karaai ha laalo.....
Naseem boozum Tche baa'la daamein kamandh hya'th chhukh shikaar Tchhaaraan,
Ba sho'ka Tchaa'ne shikaari Andhar
Ya sir panun hya'th Taraai ha laalo.."

(Gh Ahmed Mehjoor..)

My simple English rendering would be...

" Forgetting grievances,
Could you come this way for the feast ?
I shall adorn you with flower Garlands Love!
At Naseem Bagh (Garden) , I learnt you were across the Lake ,
Just below the hills,
Busy with your hunting
Lasso ,
My Love !
Here I come across in a shikara ,
Offering my head for your pleasure..
